This year I am in tap 4. It is fun. There are 5 people in my class. I am the only one who has done tap before, everyone else are beginners. So right now we have been doing a review. I know that we are going to learn some stuff soon.
This last week 5th grade has been studying explorers. Each student had to do an explorer report. My report was on Hernando Cortes. He conquered Mexico and found the Aztec treasure. The Aztec treasure was the most valuable treasure in the world. I think that Hernando's purpose was to conquer land. But, my dad disagrees. He thinks that Hernando wanted treasure not land. In school we learned that Hernando wanted land. My dad still thought that Hernando wanted treasure so he tried changing my project. Now I think Hernando went for land and treasure. I can't believe that lots of explorers tried to get the Aztec treasure and Hernando Cortes got it.
This year my grade does committees. There are a lot of committees. You get to pick which ones you want to do. I chose yearbook and library. The yearbook is something where you are in charge of the yearbook. In the library you organize the library. There are some other committees where the teachers get to pick who is in the committee, like the blog committee. I got chosen for the blog committee. So far it is really fun. This Friday we get to start taking pictures. I am really excited for Friday. And I hope I can do yearbook. I love 5th grade!
Today I went to the Oquirrh Mountain temple dedication. I also got to go to the open house and see inside the temple. When I first got to the dedication they showed pictures of the temple and I remembered most of the pictures but, some of them I didn’t remember. The rest of the time President Thomas S. Monson and some other people spoke. After that everyone did this thing called the Hosanna Shout. I felt really good after the dedication. This is the first time I have ever been to a dedication and to an open house. And for my first time I had a great time. I can’t wait until another open house and dedication. I had a great time.
A few weeks ago I got a haircut. I didn't just get a trim, I cut off four inches in the front. This is the first time I have really gotten my hair cut in my whole life. My dad really hasn"t ever let me cut my hair, but this time he said I could do anything I want if it was okay with my mom. I am so glad I got my hair cut.
This year I went to Idaho for my birthday. I had lots of fun. I went to a park and met a bunch of my aunts, uncles, cousins, and my grandma and grandpa. We had a picnic and played. I got to play at my cousins house. I met my grandparents at a restaurant for dinner. Later, I went to my first drive-in movie. I had a great birthday!
